Skeleton History

Skeleton History — Kenshi Lore reference image

The Skeletons did not survive the old world. They are the old world, still walking.

The story of the robotic Skeletons — built by the Ancients, and now the wasteland's longest memory.

Overview

Skeletons are robotic beings created during the Ancient era. They have endured for centuries, making them living — or at least functioning — records of a history no organic remembers.

Role In The Collapse

Skeleton lore is bound up with the fall of the Ancient civilisation. Some Skeletons were soldiers, some labourers, some something else — and their accounts hint at the catastrophe's shape.

The Broken

Many Skeletons degraded over the centuries into the Broken — the malfunctioning Skeleton Bandits — their minds corrupted by time and damage.

Why It Matters

Surviving Skeletons like those found across the map are key witnesses to Kenshi's deepest lore, and tie directly to Cat-Lon and the Second Empire.

Wanderer's Note

“Toughness is trained by losing. Get downed where guards will save you, then heal and repeat.”
