The United Cities Conditional

The United Cities will sell you anything. Given the chance, it will also sell you.

A sprawling, corrupt trade empire built on slavery and noble politics. Rich, dangerous and morally filthy.

Beginner WarningFreeing one slave inside a UC city feels heroic and instantly turns the whole town hostile. Decide if you want the Anti-Slaver path before you do it.

Overview

The United Cities is the largest faction by territory after the Holy Nation — a loose empire of city-states bound by trade, noble houses and the Traders Guild. It is wealthy, cosmopolitan and built on the backs of slaves.

Unlike the Holy Nation, the UC tolerates most races. What it does not tolerate is the poor, the troublesome, and anyone caught interfering with noble business.

Gameplay Impact

UC cities are economic powerhouses — the best vendors, the most lucrative bounties, the deepest markets. The eastern desert is also one of the richest mining regions in the game.

The catch is slavery. Get knocked out by UC forces while wanted and you can wake up in a slave camp. Noble characters wander with large escorts, and angering one drags an entire city's guard force onto you.

Joining & Reputation

You raise UC reputation through bounties, trade and killing their enemies (the Anti-Slavers especially). Freeing slaves, attacking nobles or smuggling will sink it quickly.

Friendly status opens recruitment, safe trade and access to noble questlines. The Anti-Slavers will despise you for it.

Military Strength

UC Samurai are among the best-equipped human soldiers in the game — heavy armour, quality sabres and large patrols. Their Heavy Armoury sells some of the strongest non-craftable plate available.

Their weakness is corruption: guards are competent but the empire is overextended, and Reavers, the Holy Nation and rebels all chew at its edges.

Best Uses

Best for: trade, mid-game economy, bounty income, and buying top-tier armour. A cleared UC city is one of the strongest mid-game home bases on the map.

Wanderer's Note

“Fight at chokepoints. Being surrounded, not being outmatched, is what kills squads.”
