Water Problems

Water is the quiet killer of ambitious bases. Solve it at the location stage, not after the walls are up.

Water feeds farms, drink and production. The wrong site makes it the chore that never ends.

Wanderer's TipCheck groundwater level before you build. It is far easier to pick a wet site than to fix a dry one later.

Overview

Bases need water for drinking, farming and some production. Water comes from wells over groundwater or from natural water sources, and availability varies enormously by region.

Wells & Groundwater

Wells tap groundwater, and a site's groundwater level sets how much you can draw. A green, wet region supports easy wells; an arid one barely supports any.

Arid Sites

Desert bases can survive on minimal water by farming cactus and limiting water-hungry production — but they will always feel water-starved compared to green sites.

Planning Ahead

Check groundwater before settling. A site with rich ore but no water forces a permanent supply problem onto the whole run.

“The Fog Islands eat the downed. A loss there is usually permanent.”
